New striker alert! Wesley joins Deano’s revolution

What a turn up for the books this one is! No ‘ITK’ source that we’re aware of had – ahead of today – linked Villa with a move for Wesley Moraes. Yet as of this evening the club have confirmed the transfer of the Brazilian striker subject to a work permit and international clearance. The transfer fee is thought to be around £22 million.

Wesley is a product of Itabuna Esporte Clube over in his native Brazil before moving to Eastern Europe and linking up with Slovakian club AS Trenčín. After scoring six goals in 18 appearances he was snapped up by Club Brugge and has helped them lift two league titles and two Belgian Super Cups. Last season he bagged 17 goals.

The 6 foot 3″ forward is strong and equally adept at holding up the ball and bringing other players around him into the game whilst also possessing a good turn of pace. If he does anywhere near as well as the last forward we brought in from Belgium then we have a true fans favourite on our hands.

Welcome to the club, Wesley.
