When it comes to transfers there will often be a difference of opinion among the fan base; whether or not the player will be a right fit for the club, the fee might be debated or perhaps the players wage or length of contract. Yet in the case of Tyrone Mings there will be no such dialogue (at least not from me) – the player and club are made for one another.
Despite only joining on loan on deadline day in January and playing for Villa 18 times Mings became a true fans favourite and now that he’s here to stay there’s little doubting that he’ll soon attain cult status.
The former Ipswich and Bournemouth man is everything you want to see in a player and more. From dominant displays in the heart of the defence, throwing shirts into the adoring fans and taking time out to sign things for supporters. He regularly interacts with your average Joe on social media too.
Mark my words when I say that this fella has the potential to play for his country. He’s good on the ball, calm and composed, he has an excellent reading of the game and, yet on the few occasions he was in trouble, his powers of recovery were there for all to see. His passion and enthusiasm reigns supreme. He leads by example.
In his short time with the club last terms Mings endeared himself with the fan base so much so that one fan (@gazswain) famously got a tattoo of the terrace chant ‘He’s here, he’s there…’ on his backside as illustrated in the image below.
