Liverpool (H) Preview ft The Anfield Wrap

This time around – in Week 11 of fixtures – Aston Villa play host to a seemingly unstoppable force from Merseyside, Liverpool FC.

The red half of Liverpool city haven’t lost a league game since their 2-1 away loss to Manchester City in January last season; quite frankly a remarkable defeat. Tottenham were the latest team to face the wrath of the Reds as Jurgen Klopp’s side edged the game 2-1.

Villa on the other hand come into the game off the back of a 3-0 loss to reigning champions Man City. Not that it did our spirits any harm, after all,  even a sniff at goal could be considered a successful afternoon at the Etihad and we held our own for the first half at least.Read More »

Match Preview: Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa

Coming into Saturday’s fixture against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, Aston Villa lie a point behind their hosts in the Premier League table.
Both sides managed wins in the last round of fixtures; Villa beating Everton 2-0 at Villa Park while Palace damned Manchester United to a 2-1 loss at Old Trafford. Villa – the away side – may carry more form into the game however after a routine 6-1 Carabao Cup win over League Two side Crewe Alexandra while the Eagles fell on penalties to another League Two side in Colchester United.

Hard work pays off as Villa take first Premier league points

After only managing to catch the second half of our first game back in the Premier League since 2016 for being in Bulgaria – and funnily enough the half we got battered in our opening weekend loss to Spurs – I had hoped to watch the full ninety against The Cherries. A flight home knackered that one. Step 1: Land in Manchester, Step 2: flight mode immediately OFF, Step 3: Score Centre app, Step 4: Pissed off for the rest of the day. Imagine my sheer effing disappointment when I remembered I had agreed to work the 23rd August on the North side of Leeds; Friday night football at home on the couch then.
