How can we find a cutting edge?

We are five games into our first season back in the elite tier of English football and have four points to show for our hard work thus far. This places us one point above the drop zone but realistically we have been unfortunate; refereeing howlers have certainly hurt us and over 90 minutes, we should have come away with three points against both Bournemouth and West Ham based on the balance of play. Additionally, given the influx of new signings, we should only improve as our players continue to gel and get to grips with the style of football Deano demands.

Match Preview: Aston Villa vs West Ham

It’s been a tough start to life back in the Premier League for Villa so far this season. One win and three losses – although one of these would have been a draw, had we not seen one of the worst refereeing decisions in Premier League history – sees Villa currently sitting in 18th place, just inside the relegation zone.

It’s no time for panic though. One win would see us significantly climb up the table and would supply the team with a lot of confidence. And what a time it would be to get it!

Do Villa Need a Plan B Formation?

The season may only be four games old, but it’s already been a mixed bag for Villa so far. There’s been plenty of positives individually and collectively, alongside a fair amount of frustration. Amongst the highs and lows so far, one factor has began to look apparent on occasion, and that is our dedication to Smith’s 4-3-3 formation of choice. It is only early doors but in its current form it has left us looking a bit open and prone to the better quality of opponent that we’re now coming up against on a weekly basis.

We are back! After a break in the betting series as there’s normally little value to be found… we’re now back to domestic action with a full compliment of fixtures to choose from.
